The Colorado Ice Indoor Football

June 16, 2014  •  1 Comment

Yes, you all know that I am a wedding and portrait photographer. But did you know that I have spent the last few months photographing indoor arena football games for the Colorado Ice at the Budweiser Events Center?

Sports photography is a challenge of its own. I have done some sports photography for a photojournalism class I took once. I have also photographed sports programs at my kids school...but nothing like this! After all...its not too often that a bride and groom tackle each other full speed at the alter. They never run into the reception space and take out the front table and the entire wedding party! And come to think of it, I have never had a bride spike her peonies either! ;-) However, photographing the Colorado Ice has been the most amazing experience and one that I hope to keep doing in the future!

I have to admit since I am 5'2" it is a little intimidating at first when I am standing next to someone taller than I am on a step ladder. Not to mention the time I was photographing in the end zone behind a wall and my lens wouldn't focus. I knew the guys running at me were a little too close...so what is a photographer to do but "duck for cover." The swoosh of air above me let me know my Spidey-senses were correct! Whew!

With all this said...I want to share some of my favorite pictures from the season with all of you and wish the guys well as they enter into the playoffs!! These men have worked so hard and everyone at the Colorado Ice has been an absolute pleasure to work with!

I am pretty sure this blog post could have been 10 miles long with all the amazing images I have collected this season!!

If you have never been to a Colorado Ice game...YOU NEED TO GO! You do not know what you are missing! They are so much fun and exciting to watch. The guys are amazing and work so hard! Their playoff game that is being hosted at the Budweiser Events Center is this Thursday, June 19th and you need to be there! They are family friendly, the kids have a great time doing the Cha-Cha Slide during half-time and the mascot Glacier and the Icicles keep things fun the whole time!

I better see you all there! Call and get your tickets...you do not want to miss this game!! I promise you will have a blast!!
