When I first met Julia and Will, the one thing they had in common is a great love for the outdoors! So, it would only make sense that their wedding was outdoors as well and that they bring a little of them into the wedding.
On private property, among family and friends, they did something that I have never seen at a wedding before! They actually started a fire!! Totally not kidding...you will see in the pictures below!
Just like a marriage, a fire has to be started with patience and persistence. As they started the fire during their wedding ceremony, I am pretty sure you could hear a pin drop for miles! It took time, patience as they had to be focused together on what was truly important. With a gentle touch, a steady hand and both of them working together, they really started a fire! Which of course then ignited into their kiss!
One of the things that I also loved during their wedding was the building of a cairn while they exchanged personal vows. I didn't know what it was until after the wedding. Don't laugh but I came home and Googled it so I could better understand the pile of rocks that was such an intricate part of their ceremony! So you don't have to...your welcome...but a cairn is basically a pile of rocks. However, it isn't just a pile of rocks but are strategically stacked largest to smallest and have a significant meaning built as a landmark while hiking or a memorial. In this case, they built it together taking turns adding additional rocks stacked gently on top of one another with a heart shaped rock stacked on top!
Their reception was a relaxed and fun outdoor environment complete with a Photo Booth, yard games, a game of ninja, a band, brownie bar, amazing catering from a food truck, Bert and of course, friends and family! (Those of you who ever watched Sesame Street...you know who Bert is...lol!)
What an amazing wedding!! I hope you agree :-)
